Rosanna Davison, former Miss World and bestselling author, has been busy transforming her dream family home alongside her husband, Wesley Quirke, and their three young children.
The couple found their forever home last year and since picking up the keys in September they have been making significant renovations to create a brighter, safer, and more functional space for their growing family.
From knocking down the original kitchen wall to create an open-plan living space to adding a cinema room, Rosanna demonstrates how renovating a house can be both enjoyable and rewarding.
Creating an open and safe living space
One of the primary focuses of the renovation has been enhancing natural light and making the home more child-friendly.
To achieve this, Rosanna and Wesley knocked down the original kitchen wall to create a spacious, open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area.
“We’re putting in two glass sliding doors in the far corner to open out into the garden,” Rosanna shared on her Instagram page @rosanna_davison, expressing her excitement about blending indoor and outdoor living. The changes are designed to make the space feel more airy and welcoming, perfect for family life.
Expanding and reconfiguring rooms
Another major aspect of the renovation has been reworking the upper floor to maximise space and safety.
The house originally featured a mezzanine floor with a balcony overlooking the kitchen, but this has now been built across to create an additional bedroom. To further increase daylighting in the new upstairs space, the couple is replacing the dormer window at the far end.
Additionally, the upstairs landing has been extended, and the height of the bannisters is being raised to make the home safer for young children.
“It was all too easy for a small child to jump over,” Rosanna noted, highlighting the importance of child-proofing their home while keeping it stylish.
Additionally, her latest improvement included adding a new cinema room in the attic after finally deciding a room for Wesley to “watch football in” was better than adding an office, their second choice.
Preparing for the next phases
Renovation work is currently focused on practical upgrades, including pulling up floorboards to prepare for underfloor heating, rewiring the house and finalising hardwood floor and carpet measurements.
With windows, floors, and the kitchen expected to be installed by the end of March, the transformation is well underway.
Rosanna has also enlisted the expertise of interior designer Geri Designs to bring her vision to life. “Can’t wait for @geri_designs to work her interior design magic!” she enthused, looking forward to selecting paint colours, furniture, and fabrics that will complete the home’s aesthetic.
A dream home in the making
Reflecting on the journey, Rosanna expressed gratitude for finding the perfect place to make lasting family memories.
“We began searching for our forever home soon after our twins were born four years ago. Earlier this year, we found it,” she shared. With structural changes nearing completion, the fun of designing and decorating is just beginning, and Rosanna is eager to share the transformation with her followers.
As progress continues, fans can expect more updates on the exciting evolution of Rosanna and Wesley’s dream home – a space carefully crafted for their family to thrive in for years to come.
