Superior Industries, a U.S. manufacturer of bulk material processing and handling equipment, has been granted a patent for the recirculating conveyor system used on its Portable Sentry Horizontal Shaft Impactor (HSI) Closed Circuit Plant.
The patented design feeds recirculated material back into the crusher with a centered and consistent flow, helping to evenly distribute wear across the blow bars. This approach is intended to extend the life of wear parts and reduce operating costs in applications such as recycled concrete and reclaimed asphalt.
In conventional HSI closed-circuit setups, recirculated material is typically fed from one side, leading to uneven wear and more frequent maintenance. Superior’s centered feed design addresses this issue by promoting uniform wear patterns.
Additional features of the Portable Sentry HSI Plant include:
- Hydraulically-positioned recirculating conveyor for easy material return.
- Intrepid® Vibrating Grizzly Feeder, which supports interchangeable grizzly cassettes (bars, fingers or punch plates) for various material types.
- 2-deck Anthem® Inclined Screen, designed for multi-size sorting and improved maintenance access between decks.
- Universally designed cross conveyors, which are fully interchangeable to streamline parts inventory and rotation.
The patent supports Superior’s focus on improving operational efficiency through design changes that contribute to uptime and cost management in material processing.
