Living on a farm and running a farm shop has its benefits, but many drawbacks.
One of the main ones is burglars. If I was to tell you the amount of times we have had people coming into our gates and taking something you’d be amazed we’re still open.
So I decided to try and combat this and I think I’ve found the best deterrent possible; eufy’s home security camera range. It has proven to be the best home security system we have ever had, and here’s why.
Easy installation

Installation couldn’t have been any easier for my eufy security cameras
When unboxing six security cameras with three solar panels I can’t lie I was initially daunted by the prospect of having to install them and set them up.
Previously we installed four security cameras outside the corner of each of the outside of the house, which needed to be wall mounted, which was difficult through our pebble-dashed home.
This wasn’t a problem with the eufy cameras though as each came with a mount that could be installed on windowsills with ease, helped by the inclusion of drill hole guides.
Other than that I only need to install the eufy app on my phone, click the sync button on my camera and S380 Homebase, and done, I was ready to go. All in all, this took about 30 minutes.
More features than you could ever need

I struggled to list all of the features included with my eufy cameras
Briefly reading the manual didn’t quite prepare me for the amount of features my eufy cameras possessed.
Starting with the eufyCam S3 Pro one would think it just takes recordings and that’s it, but no.
If someone comes onto my property and I’m not home I can speak directly through the camera to ask what they’re doing, and if it’s at night I can use my ‘spotlight’ feature to illuminate them so their face is clear on camera.
However, this may not be necessary as the camera has a ‘Daylight’ feature to make the recordings at night seem like it’s the middle of afternoon, even if it’s pitch black outside.
And by the way, all of this is in 4K quality. This is very important as previously when we’ve had burglars our old cameras were unable to capture the license plates so nothing could be done, whereas now we have no problem with this.
Facial recognition system

The facial recognition system (blurred out in the image) stores any unknown faces and records all of their actions whilst on your property
As part of the initial set up you can set up images of all anyone you deem safe so when you do receive notifications the app can only tell you when a stranger comes onto your property.
Now anybody who is unrecognised will be recorded as well as all of their actions on my property. It will then store the data on my phone to review later
Thankfully none of those who were ‘unfamiliar faces’ on my app were of any danger, but if they were I would have all of the evidence I needed.
If needed and if I was to be extra cautious I can set up an alarm so that anyone who does show up who I’m not expecting I can set of a sound and light alarm to warn of intruders.
The SoloCam S340 provides even more security

From your app you can control where your S340 security camera points
If you need something more heavy-duty, eufy provides again. The eufy SoloCam S340 steps things up a knotch and justifies its higher price point and need for its own, personalised solar panel.
The S3 Pro is ideal if you are covering one area and want your camera to face one direction that you want protected.
However, the SoloCam covers a much larger space on your property with its view 360° and 70° tilt as well an 8x, zoom allowing you to see as far as 50 feet away clearly, as well as including all of the features of the S3 Pro.

The 8x zoom and 360-degree view allows me to cover the entirety of my garden
If that wasn’t already enough then its AI facial recognition function really did blow me away.
During set up you can turn this function on which will automatically follow the movement of any human on your property meaning there will be no blind spots for potential thieves to hide. And again, any activity will automatically be recorded.

No monthly subscription fees or electricity costs
I have seen security cameras that don’t need a subscription before but these eufy security cameras also save me money on my electricity bills.
With each camera including a solar panel either on top of or attached to them, I don’t have to pay anything to keep my home safe after the initial purchase, which wasn’t the case with my previously wired security cameras.
Although the weather hasn’t been all sunny it will be interesting to see how the cameras cope with gloomier weather, but so far the battery on all of my camera’s that are all around my house haven’t dropped below three bars.
Final thoughts
I don’t want to tempt fate but we haven’t seen any thieves yet, and I’m not putting that down to the presence of my eufy security cameras but I can rest easy knowing if anything was to happen every possible detail of the suspects could be handed to the police and I would be warned beforehand.
Since installing eufy’s security cameras, peace of mind has become part of daily life.
With crystal-clear footage, smart alerts and powerful features – all without ongoing costs – these cameras have quietly become one of the best decisions I’ve made for our home.
And while I hope we never have to test them in a serious situation, I know we’re ready if we do.
