Sharon Valiante Wins APWA Texas Chapter President’s Award

Sharon Valiante, a Regional Business Manager at Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN), has been honored with the President’s Award by the Texas Chapter of the American Public Works Association (TxAPWA). The award was presented during the chapter’s annual conference.

The President’s Award is given annually to recognize outstanding service and commitment to the association and the public works profession. Valiante, a Life Member of APWA with more than 30 years of continuous membership and over 35 years of municipal service, received the award in recognition of her long-standing leadership, volunteerism and contributions to the organization at both the state and national levels.

Valiante has served in numerous leadership roles within TxAPWA, including Past President and Council of Chapters Delegate, where she represented the Texas Chapter on the national stage. Her career has been marked by tireless advocacy for infrastructure improvements, dedication to public service and mentorship of emerging professionals in the industry.

“This recognition was truly a surprise and an incredible honor,” said Valiante. “It’s been a privilege to serve an organization that’s so committed to advancing the public works profession and improving communities across Texas.”

In her current role at LAN, Valiante leads business operations across the Houston region, focusing on customer relationships, performance and strategic growth. She previously served as Public Works Director for the City of Fulshear and continues to be active in numerous professional associations, including the American Water Works Association and the Texas Floodplain Management Association
