MuleHide SL Base Delivers Smooth Surface for Coating

MuleHide SL Base Delivers Smooth Surface for Coating

Coating a gravel built-up roof (BUR) has traditionally been a materials-intensive process, thanks to the extremely thick layer of coating required to create a smooth, level surface. New SL Base silicone surface-leveling coating from low-slope roofing manufacturer MuleHide offers a quicker, lower-cost way to restore rough, uneven roofs.

Part of MuleHide’s silicone roof coating system, SL Base is specially formulated to cost less than the finish coating. It is more free flowing than the finish coat, allowing it to migrate to the low parts of the roof and fill cracks and crevices, setting the stage for the finish coat. It is primarily designed for use on gravel BUR roofs but can also be used on “alligatored” areas of smooth-surface BUR roofs as well as on granulized modified bitumen roofs and concrete roofs.

The one-part, ready-to-use material is easily applied using a heavy-duty airless sprayer (recommended) or a roller. The roof surface will not be completely level, and some rocks will still be visible, but it will be ready for application of the 100% Silicone Roof Coating finish coat, resulting in a smooth, durable, waterproof and weathertight roof.

SL Base is available in 5-gallon pails.
