Artificial intelligence and machine learning are set to affect every industry, including construction. It’s now essential for every professional to know the basics of AI – what it is and isn’t and how you could use it in your business. A perfect way to get a grasp of AI’s potential is by taking an online course tailored for our industry.
A group of Finnish organizations has developed the MOOC, a Massive Open Online Course, for built environment businesses. It is a collaboration between Reaktor Education and KIRAHub, the Ministry of the Environment, YIT, Ramboll, Metropolia, Kiinko, and FAIA. AEC Business was also involved in the process.
The course has exercises, including a simulated project where you plan an AI project for construction site safety with Kira, a business manager. The exercise is based on an AI pilot implemented by YIT. The purpose of the pilot was to use machine vision to identify the use of a helmet on construction sites.
The course consists of three parts:
- How to utilize artificial intelligence
- Industry AI solutions and examples
- Artificial intelligence for business
The course is now available both in Finnish and English and is currently free of charge.
